Monday 6th September - it's the first Monday of September so it's open mic night with Shane Lamont - start time 9pm. 11th September - Dave King returns to the G&D. 18th September - Acoustic Stuff return to the G&D. Friday 24th September - the G&D is holding an open mic night with a difference - a Beatles open mic night, so come along & perform your favourite Beatles' song. Start time 9pm. 25th September - it's the last Saturday of September so it's karaoke night with Saturn Karaoke. 2nd October - The Rockettes return to the G&D for an evening of 50's & 60's rock 'n' roll. 9th October - Mouth On A Stick return to the G&D. 16th October - Scratch & Jane return to the G&D. 23rd October - Echo return to the G&D. 30th October - it's the last Saturday of October so it's karaoke night with Saturn Karaoke.
Ongoing Events Pub Info - due to delays in obtaining planning permission for the houses being built at the back of the G&D, & therefore delays to the commencement of the building work itself, the pub garden will not be reopened at the end of August as planned. Many apologies for this. However, on a more positive note, the renovation of the barn has been completed. This venue boasts its own bottle bar & is now available for hire for private functions - see Mick for more details. Finally, on another positive note, Punch Taverns have carried out an assessment of the G&D & have decided to spend a considerable amount renovating the pub. There is no information as to the start date of the renovation work as yet, but watch this space! Quiz Night - there is a general knowledge quiz every Wednesday starting between 8:30pm & 9pm. Curry Night - every Tuesday night is Curry Night, where a choice of curries, accompanied by poppadams, chutneys & naans, will be served. Prices vary depending on the choice available, but usually start from £5.95. Steak Night - every Thursday night is Steak Night, where succulent rib-eye, sirloin & rump steaks, cooked to your liking, are served. Prices start from £8.95. Open Mic Night - there is an open mic night with Shane Lamont on the first Monday of every month at the G&D. Start time 9pm. Next open mic night is Monday 6th September 2010. Karaoke Night - there is generally a karaoke night with Saturn Karaoke (aka Bob) on the last Saturday of every month at the G&D (see the Forthcoming Events section or the Lemonrock link on this page for actual dates). Start time 8:30pm. Poker - Thursday night is now LVA Poker Night, with cash prizes to be won - see Mick for more details. Summer Pool League - an LVA Summer Pool League began on Monday 7th June, with matches played every Monday night. To sign up or to get more details, ask at the bar. Hairdresser - a hairdresser visits the G&D on the afternoon of the 2nd Thursday of each month - see Mick for more details. Tarot Cards - readings are available on the last Tuesday of every month from 8pm - 10:30pm. Darts - a Ladies' Darts team represents the G&D in a local league. Click here for information about upcoming fixtures. News Update British Red Cross Quiz Night - thank you to everyone that took part. £170 was raised on the night. Wacky Races for Dreamflight - well done to the two teams of G&D regulars that drove in the "Wacky Races" car rally that took place from Thursday 18th June to Sunday 21st June 2009. The race was from Lille to Budapest & both teams were raising money for Dreamflight. The teams were Monks On The Run & Chavaliers & both teams successfully completed the race. Click on the team names to see their cars. Darts - congratulations to the Ladies' Darts team for winning the local 2008/9 league. Geoff's Birthday Curry Night - this event took place on 21/03/09 & raised over £2,000 for Dreamflight. Thanks to everybody that supported the evening (but especially Geoff & Don!).
